Lesson 17
Mental and physical condition during the sight reading.
Monitor your mental and physical condition. Don’t let yourself get “pinched”, tensed. Strive to ensure that the sight reading always gives you pleasure.
Of great importance is the ability of the musician to concentrate and not be distracted by external and internal irritating factors. The process of sight reading involves considerable mental tension, and, under certain circumstances, this tension can be equated to stress! When a musician inexperienced in sight reading plays in the real environment, he has a huge internal tension. Therefore his hands and fingers can get “clamped”.
Therefore, it is very important to be able to control the mental and physical state of the whole body. It is important to learn to strain your thoughts but not the body.
Before starting to play, try to eliminate all annoying internal and external points so that you can concentrate as much as possible on the process of the sight reading.
