Look over the sheet music before you play it

What you looking for it’s the time signature, the tempo, the key signature, the repeats, the dynamic markers, the key changes, the time changes, the tempo changes and most important – the tricky places. 

The intro and the ending – the most important part of performing.  You have to start and finish at the same time with the band. So look at the intro and ending.

If you will know all this things before you start to play, the sight reading will be much easier.
