Lesson 9
Despite the fact that the skill of sight reading is one of the most important for every modern musician, nevertheless, it remains the least developed skill for most musicians.
If you do not have a professional musical education, then most likely you can assume that all professional musicians can read the music. And that it’s a fairly simple skill that develops over time.
It’s not like that at all. And we can say that more than 80% of musicians who play their instrument perfectly, read notes very badly, despite the fact that they are very good musicians.
This is because they have not trained this skill. In this course, we give you the most important practical tips to follow to speed up the development of your sight reading skills. Because if you just mindlessly read notes, then progress will be very slow and, most likely, you will not get what you are striving for.
One of the most vital tip – practice sight reading every single day!
If you find it difficult to read the whole piece of music, you can divide it into smaller fragments. You can play from letter A to letter B and stop. And then from letter B to letter C, and so on. But read music every day, even in small amounts.
Even if you don’t have access to your instrument, sight read with your eyes. Look at the piece of music, name the notes and try to imagine how you would play this music on your instrument.
