Rhythm is very important in sight reading. The only thing that holding musicians together during their performing is pulse!

Read the piece of music at a manageable speed. What you have to able to do it’s to read the music in time. If you play the music and made a mistake by playing a wrong note it will be not so bad as if you play the music and messed up timing, which will be more noticeable. You can sacrifice the notes but you cannot sacrifice the tempo.

Practice your sight reading with metronome.

Pick a sustainable tempo.

Not matter what level we are, we all want to sight read fast. Of course, eventual you will be going to be able to sight read in the fast tempo. But for now, you have to be choosing a manageable tempo.
