Lesson 1
Reading music tells us two things – tell us pitch and tells us rhythm. Pitch means which note to play and rhythm means when to play them.
We begin our study of sight reading with rhythm because it is the most fundamental element. Rhythm can exist without pitch but pitch cannot exist without rhythm. Thorough work on rhythm will pay great dividends. There’s no reason why you should have a problem with rhythm.
Rhythmic etudes are of great help in successful learning to read music.
